MATERIALS
- 3.5mm crochet hook (You can use a smaller or bigger crochet hook depending on your yarn)
- Sport yarn 150gr (I used YarnArt Jeans)
- Yarn needle for sewing
- Scissors
- Stitch markers
STITCHES
- Chain stitch (ch)
- Half double crochet (hdc)
- Single crochet (sc)
- Slip stitch (sl. st.)
- Back loop only (BLO)
- Finish off (F/O)
THE BASE
We’ll start by creating the base, which is common for all three styles. Begin by crocheting a chain stitch (ch) until you have a length that comfortably wraps around just above your bust, leaving approximately a 10 cm gap. The goal is not to have the two ends meet. Leave about 10 cm gap.
R1: starting from the 3rd ch from the hook hdc across, ch1, turn
R2 – R27: hdc across, ch1, turn
This part should cover your bust area so add as many rounds as you need.
Here I start to reduce the number of stitches because my waist is smaller than my bust. Adjust this section based on your body.
R28: hdc in the first 3st, skip the next st, hdc until there are 4st left, skip the next st, hdc in the last 3st, ch1, turn
R29: hdc across, ch1, turn
R30 – R48: repeat rounds 28 and 29 until you reach the desirable length
Now, to complete the base, work single crochet (sc) across the back of the top on both sides.
R1: attach the yarn and sc across both sides of the base, ch1, turn
I worked 66sts
CORSET STYLE
For the corset style, we’ll now focus on creating the laced-up back.
R1: “hdc, ch1, skip next st” repeat till the end
F/O
To create the straps, count 42 stitches from each side of the first round of the base and place stitch markers. Then, attach yarn and crochet a long chain, approximately 150cm long. Make the straps thicker by slip stitching (sl. st.) across. Finally, weave the straps through the holes on the back.
RIBBED STYLE (STRAPLESS)
This style begins from one side of the base where you previously worked the sc . The hdc part in R1 should be on the bust area and the sc part should be worked starting from the decreasing stitches because this is going to end up on your waist.
R1: hdc, BLO hdc in the next 32sts, BLO sc in the next 32sts, sc, ch1, turn
R2: sc, BLO sc in the next 32st, BLO hdc in the next 32sts, hdc, ch1, turn
R3 – R17: repeat rows 1 and 2
Turn the wrong side facing you and either sew or sc across to connect the top.
RIBBED STYLE (WITH STRAPS)
For this style, we’ll focus on creating thicker straps.
Count 10 stitches from where you previously created the ribbing and attach the yarn.
R1 – R52: hdc in the next 7st, ch1, turn
F/O and leave a tail for sewing.
Sew the front side of the straps between the 36th and 44th posts.
